And the number of guns sold should be higher, but some of us who wanted to buy match grade AR-15's found that there was suddenly a long, long wait list from the manufacturer! Local gun stores were sold out of many models of other types of guns as well.

I'm still thinking of picking up an "assault weapon" while I still can but here in the Boston-metro area, the main gun store has been out of WASR-10s (their main low-cost option)for a while. I'm not sure what to do to find something I can afford that's legal. (MA has their own law that didn't sunset.)

Does this include all sales? I know some states do thier own checks and I don't know if they use NICS. If not, it would be interesting to know what percentage of states don't us NICS and we could extrapolate the numbers.

No.

Also doesn't show multiple gun sales. What I have been hearding about at gun stores and gun shows are people buying lots of receivers/guns at once. That would still be just one call.

BlackX, once the 2A is incorporated, you should sue MA for infringing your right to keep and bear semiauto firearms that are commonly owned and in common use elsewhere in the country.

It's simply unacceptable that MA denies you those fundamental rights. You sound sort of uncommitted ... might pick one up while you still can? Aren't you pissed off as hell about that ... that your state denies you one of the rights of citizenship that Americans pretty much everywhere enjoy?

It also doesn't show those guns bought by holders of Concealed Carry Licences who don't have to have a NIC's check. In Texas for sure.

Anyone who was surprised by the post-election gun sales results either has been living in a cave or is deluded.

Most 2A activists saw this coming months ago, and anyone with sense started purchases then. Had a friend who vacillated on buying an AR for years...The Messiah gets elected and suddenly he has to have one.

Luckily, he found one that came with enough stuff that, when you factored out the ammo, mags, accessories, etc., the gun itself was only about $850...about normal. He got lucky.

Damn, that's about a million guns a month.

I think that Obama can probably save on construction costs for federal buildings by going to the FBI and BATFE and collecting all of the bricks on the floor.
