A pro-gun US Senator from NY?

Posted by David Hardy · 23 January 2009 07:04 AM

NY Gov. Paterson has picked Kirsten Gillibrand to replace Hillary Clinton as US Senator. The NY Times reports:

"If Mr. Paterson was hoping to quiet the tumult over the selection process by picking Ms. Gillibrand, there were indications that he may not get his wish. Ms. Gillibrand, who has been endorsed by the National Rifle Association, is controversial among some of the party’s more liberal leaders downstate.

Representative Carolyn McCarthy, a Long Island Democrat and ardent gun control activist, said Thursday that if Ms. Gillibrand got the job, she was prepared to run against her in a primary in 2010. "

Oh Carolyn McCarthy already wants to run
against her in 2010?

Carolyn McCarthy is an ugly man-hating,
gun-hating woman.

It shouldn't be a wonder why women
like Carolyn McCarthy and Rosie O'Donnell
hate guns and gun owners.

Probably because men give much more
attention to gun than they would
ever gives those two or any women
who looked like them.

So they try to take our guns away
to get back at us lol.

That's awesome.

I don't think McCarthy stands a chance. She suffers from foot in mouth disease, especially on the gun issue.

Someone needs to send Patterson a fruit basket or something.

I'd love to see McCarthy get her ass handed to her in an election, because she's an asshat anyhow.

Yup, The Downstate Dems and the Radical Left are howling like souls in torment. Paterson made a good decision by picking a rural, Upstate Democrat for US Senate. Too long have N’Yorkers west and north of the Tappan Zee been orphans and been victims to NYC and Long Island narrow interests.

It’s been many years since I found comfort in who my US Senator was. Yeah, I’m from Western New York.

I don't know what to make of this.

Good grief...

...could the Governator here in Kaaaleeefornia be such a raging apostate like Patterson?

No, probably not.

At least it is comforting to know that if a vacancy occurs here in Kaaaleeefornia, there is no possible way that anyone the Terminator appointed could be any worse than what we already have...

:(

Doesn't Gillibrand also get solid endorsements from Progressive groups as well? I thought the ACLU backed her strongly as well.

Must suck to have your knickers in a such a twist.

I am not a liberal, but I am a life long leftist. I am also a member of both the NRA and Gun Owners of America. (I did not vote for Obama.) I have been looking at Ms. Gillibrand, trying to see what I can learn about her on line. It seems that she is far from my ideal of perfect, but far better than what I could have hoped for. I hope very much that Representative Carolyn McCarthy is stupid enough to run against her. If Ms. Gillibrand
does not make a stupid mistake I think that she can easily annihilate Carolyn McCarthy in an election in New York (I live in NYC). Ms. Gillibrand is a strong supporter not only
of abortion rights, but gay and transgendered rights. She is the first senator from New York to support gay marriage. She also supports legislation against discrimination against transgendered people. That, if she makes an issue of it, will gain her much support in NYC, her record here is much stronger than Carolyn McCarthy's. She also opposed the massive 700 billion dollar give away to the crooks on Wall Street. You would not know it from the press, but no one that I know, that does not work on Wall Street, supported that "little" bit of thievery. I just cannot see how Carolyn McCarthy could win against her in New York. If plays her cards right Ms. Gillibrand might even convert a few New Yorkers in Second Amendment supporters. If she does go against Carolyn McCarthy, she will need the support (financially) of the Second Amendment community because if there is anything that the rump of the NYC Democratic party hates more that the Second Amendment, it is those who did not support the give away to the crooks on Wall Street.
