What doesn't work in Chicago won't work in Cheyenne

Posted by David Hardy · 5 September 2008 09:35 AM

Chicago's handgun ban seems functioning as expected: 125 homicides over the summer, more than the KIAs in Iraq. Glenn Reynolds suggests that with escalating violence and a corrupt regime, maybe we should just pull out of Chicago.

One of the latest: four gang members charged in murder of 10 year old girl.

"Officials say a gang on Exchange Avenue typically fights with another on Escanaba. There's an alley in between.

"The gangs often shoot at each other through gangways stemming from that alley," Assistant State's Attorney Maria McCarthy said. "

The response: a group called CeaseFire held a prayer vigil and "urged lawmakers to increase funding for CeaseFire..."

As a Chicago resident who previously lived in the wonderfully gun friendly Indiana, I'm going through gun-use withdrawals. That said; I'd like to explain the Chicago machine: Chicago breeds poor, illiterate, government dependent sheeple like bacteria grows in a trash can. Just look at the schools, and especially Rep. Meeks' protest that happened recently. The bums outnumber the workers, and anyone who is high school educated (or less) only cares that the snow is off the streets and that the power stays on. Based on the economy of late, people are getting desperate and committing crimes. The police are the only ones safe here, besides the heavily bodyguarded Boss Daly of course. I live on the South side, where most of the murders occur. My building was recently been broken in to, and the police never even showed up. Daly calls the Chicago Machine "laughable", but everything about it is true. I have asked people on the train why they will vote for Obama, and most say "b/c it's time for one of our kind to be in power for a change" or something to that effect. It's pitiful that they don't understand their obligation to make the right choice during elections. Chicago is a terrible, anti-military place, and I hate it. If the Navy hadn't put me here, I'd leave yesterday. This is getting long, I could write a novel on it, but just understand: Chicago IS a machine; a churning, right-supressing, murder producing machine.

Is there any significance to the hand gesture Nequiel Fowler is displaying in the photo?

It looks like a "u" in American Sign Language.

Indeed. The success of Chicago's ban. And we are pleased that Chicago's illegal ban might finally be ruled "game over" once and for all.

If nothing else, read the brief for motion for summary judgement ... the case for incorporation is outlined there. It's just too bad that this local federal district judge is not moving at top speed ...

Here's the guaranteed way for Ceasefire to get their funding increased:
1. Hire Obama's wife for a mainly symbolic position.

2. Promise to triple her salary when he gets an earmark for their organization.

3. Sit back and wait for the money to roll in.
