Can you imagine all the kits and 80 percents that are getting sold? To hobbyists? It's gotta be insane. FAL kits doubles in price, a friend just got rid of an AK kit for triple what he paid for it.

I mean the barrel ban of course increased prices on kits, but I'm hearing stuff like J&G is having a hard time keeping AK kits in stock, they're selling that fast. It's only a matter of time before the importation permits for kits run out and they dry up forever (thanks to Bush letting the ATF ban importation of barrels).

Of course sales are jumping, because no matter who gets in there'll be an AWB of some kind.

"McCain said he was open to voting for an assault weapon ban, depending on the details. " -Source: Los Angeles Times, “McCain Calls for Hearings” Aug 17, 1999

And we all know Obama will. And because of all the new voters voting this year theres a real fear out there (shared by me as well) that Obama will win.

I know a lot of gun owners, but...

Most of them don't shoot their guns, and as a result, don't really care about gun rights.

The problem now isn't Sarah Brady and company, but the lack of places to shoot. And the places that do exist, aren't convenient to get to, or really pleasant to shoot at once you get there.

It's easy to forget that the casual gun owner isn't as "in to it" as we are, and shouldn't put up with the crap at ranges that we assume is normal.

The gun culture is going to do more to drive away potential allies than the anti-gunners ever will.

Here's the LA Times article which provides the quote people have been using. It's ... not good, showing McCain was a squish on gun control before he lost the nomination campaign in 2000 (after which he viciously turned on us and others in the base, moving him from a good GOA score to C and now F- (the latter only given to a leader in gun control)). Although it must be noted they are paraphrasing McCain's comments to them, but back then they also had a link to the audio of their interview with him.

I'm only voting mccain-PALIN because OBAMA-biden (both of them) are promising indictments of the Bush administration if they get elected (a sure way to spark a civil war in the medium term, when a political culture develops where losing power means losing everything; the general system that we call "democracy" solves the succession problem) and because this makes a future President Palen a lot more likely, and I think she will be pro-gun rather than "grow" in office inside the Beltway.

For McCain, McKelvey's willingness to devote millions of dollars to influence lawmakers on issues such as gun control is something to be lauded rather than criticized. "I'm glad a guy with a billion dollars, or two billion dollars, wants to spend his money on an issue he feels strongly about," McCain says.
