I'm real curious how Congress's restriction on carrying in the streets reads. Will it be an infringement of the 2nd? That's the one city where I could see a particularly strong resistance to bearimg arms. I'm afraid the Supreme Court might not recognize the right to open or concealed carry just for its effects in DC.

DC is just trying to stall long enough for Congress to go home to have their elections. After the elections they figure they can rewrite todays temporary regulations however they want until the democrats are close to another election and/or the Supreme Court gets shifted a vote.

I see that the DC law is for an ordinance that is [temporary]. I suppose that means they'll hope that congressional fervor will simmer down and then they let the new ordinance sunset and we're back to disassembled, unloaded paper weights.
