Sounds like a nice place to live....
Newspaper survey of Alabama residents finds 66% own guns and 80% believe in an individual right to arms. I have to wonder, tho, at the finding that 46% have CCW licenses; that sounds way high.

According to the 1998 CCRKBA report, Alabama's CCW holder percentage was 3.15%, which puts it pretty high up on the list, ahead of Florida, but behind SD, IN, PA, CT, WA, ID, UT, OR, and TN.
Perhaps many folks in Alabama believe that the second amendment is the only license they need to carry a firearm :)
Telephone polls are notoriously unreliable. Some of them are accurate and some not. And a lot depends on how the questions are asked. There are a lot of "false positives" (people who say "yes" when the truth is "no") and "false negatives".
I wonder if anyone has ever done a study of telephone polls using a "known false" question, just to see how many people answered "yes". Or vice versa, like calling ten thousand people who have dog licenses and asking them if they own a dog. How many will answer "no"?
i know if somebody calls me to ask if i own a gun, i'd certainly not answer "yes". i may answer "none of your business", or "who the hells are you", or just hang up on them, but i'm not saying i do.
Perhaps like a lot of people believe they belong to the NRA because they own a gun, a large percentage of Alabama residents think they have a CCW right because they own a handgun.
Or are just American citizens....
I live in Alabama. Don't know for sure but based on the people I know, 46% having CCW Licenses sounds reasonable. This is a great place to live.
