VPC and a Joyce clone attacking Justice Alito

Posted by David Hardy · 16 June 2008 09:39 PM

Right here. I like the way they style his dissent in a 2-1 Circuit ruling as "the lone dissenter." On a three judge panel, that's the only way you can be a dissenter. Page is sponsored by Freedom States Alliance (and in contradiction to that name, complains of his "extremely restrictive view of Congressional regulatory power."), which is a Joyce Foundation clone, and cites Violence Policy Center (another Joyce clone).

Well, all that crap is a day late and a dollar short. The man is on the Court now, so in the immortal words of Bob Newhart: "tough darts, Farmer."

Dear Freedom States Alliance:

Your "Gun Guys" bloggers have definitely crossed the line of reason and respect, by stating that the NRA is a "practically criminal" organization. ( www dot machinegunsammy dot com )

The NRA has existed for years to promote civilian, police, and military marksmanship, and to promote the lawful and safe ownership and use of firearms in the United States. The NRA has consistently backed legislation that would severely punish those few among us who choose to use firearms in an unlawful manner.

They of course know that Americans have the right to keep and to bear firearms, so long as they do so for all lawful purposes. I submit that you know this as well, but perhaps merely disagree. Firearm ownership as supported by the NRA is about lawful and responsible use. The NRA has become involved in protecting second amendment rights via legislative action only because of threats posted by Handgun Control Inc., Violence Policy Center, etc., and the gun control activities funded by the Joyce Foundation. If these groups, whose efforts are thinly veiled as "violence control" programs, would approach violence prevention policies that do not infringe on a fundamental, constitutional right, it is likely that the NRA would not need be involved in the legislative issues regarding rights protected by the second amendment.

Your (via "Gun Guys") accusation of the NRAs "criminality" has moved your position from the extreme into the bizzare. It is far easier to argue that a group of people that attempts to criminalize firearms ownership without appeal to Article V of the Constitution (which allows for repeal of amendments) are the ones involved in criminality. Because Freedom States Alliance advocates the infringment of second amendment rights outside the boundaries of repealing the second amendment, you are involved in what is effectively criminal activity. We are a nation ruled by laws, not men and women. We can discuss policy and firearms ownership. But there exists an undeniable right to keep and bear arms that is protected from legislative infringement via the second amendment. You MUST work within the law - if you wish for there to be no right to bear arms, then your efforts MUST begine with the repeal the second amendment. Anything else is criminal.

With regards,

Carl (in Chicago)

Alito (also called "Scalito" by his associates because of his similarity to conservative Judge Antonin Scalia) is known to possess views that could imperil virtually every federal law that regulates firearms, ammunitions, and explosives.

Omigod, no! Not views! Are you sure?

But Carl, don't you know that the Constitution is a living thing that has to be reinterpreted periodically in light of modern advances in human nature and technology?

Me, I think having a "rifle behind every blade of grass" is a good thing.

The "Machine Gun Sammy" site is pretty old. It's our old friend Mark Karlin who put it up.

Yesterday he was repeating the canard that the NRA is washed up.

Pretty interesting that it's ok to slander an Italian with the "Gangster" label, isn't it?

"Omigod, no! Not views! Are you sure?"

Yes, views! And he possesses them. All of them. He keeps them in his left pocket. They are extremely dangerous views, as well. Trust us on this one. They have the real possibility to imperil virtually every federal law that keeps our country safe, cozy, snug, free, clean, and pure in mind, body and spirit, including those that prevent cooties. Views, VIEWS, I say!! Damn your eyes, VIEWS!!
