If it would save even one life...

Story here. In California, unarmed passers-by come upon man fatally beating a toddler, and are unable to stop him. He is stopped only when officers arrive and shoot him.

Hat tip to reader Jim Kindred...

Wow, that's really really horrible.

What a horrific story! I never told my daughter that there were no monsters when she was little, only that there were none in her closet or under her bed. I never wanted to lie to her.

What a horrible story for Father's day. Made me sick.

+1, Jim.

I live in Mississippi where it is legal to carry in your vehicle without a permit. Had this happened here the only thing the police would have needed to do was drag this killers body off when they got there. Some of the people I know myself included would have only told him to stop once before the big bang if that many times.

It is so nice to live in a state that has yet to be enlightened with gun control as they have in CA.

Apparently none of them had any empty hand skills, either. Or the cojones to get a tire iron out of their trunks.

You are the weapon. Your (insert force multiplier of choice here) is just a tool.

There is no excuse for violence!

This has been taught in our schools for 30 years. Is it suprising that people don't or can't react to violence with violence.

We have been turned into sheep. I hope that I would react with violence in that sititution and stop that monster. But you cannot know until you are faced with the violence.

Sometimes violence is the ONLY solution.

I know, I once beat the Hell out of a man strangling his own dog. I believe I could find it in my heart to be even more radical in defense of a toddler.

Of course, that makes me a radical and the pragmatists can make the argument that anyone doing anything could place that person at risk of injury, but more importantly, the big fear, at risk of prosecution. I feel confident that all our pragmatic brethren would have done just what was done, nothing.
