Rex Davis, RIP
Rex Davis, first head of BATF, has died. He must have made it up there in years -- I seem to recall that he retired in the early 1980s.

It was interesting to see him eulogized by the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence. It crystallized a thought I've had, which is that the BATF is essentially a law enforcement arm of the gun-control lobby, or more precisely, gun control proponents in Congress and the Clinton administration. As an explanation of their policies and attitudes I think it goes far.
I suppose it's a start.
