Clayton Cramer's candidacy and an Army of Davids

Comment here. This may just have serious meaning for us all. Perhaps running for office is no longer limited to people who have devoted their lives to that one pursuit, and those who have loads of money.

Standing in line at the Supreme Court, Ken Cuccinelli and I had a similar conversation.

Basically folks trying to get conservative/libertarians into local offices.

Run where you live ... Enough picadors will bring down the nanny-state bull.

I will contribute a database of all 867 Idaho FFL's. These are excellent prospects for campaign volunteers, contributors and political allies.

I live in Northern Virginia and just sent Mr. Cramer a check for $50.

Hopefully his nationwide readership will respond in kind and he will wind up with $10K or more, a sizable amount for a state election race in Idaho.

The problem with our political system is career politicians. I don't know what the answer is... A cap on how many years one person can hold Federal office maybe? 8 years in any office and you're done, period, go back home and become a productive member of society.

The problem with term limits - as 'Brian' above seems to be wishing for - is that a new cycle of politicians need to be 'trained' about antigun votes each time instead of retaining a long memory of 'don't screw with the gunnies'.

Here in California, the gun situation worsened when term limits activated in early 1990s. Just as soon as one politician 'learned' not to vote antigun because his phone would ring off the hook and his mailbox would be jammed, he'd term out and the new guy would come in and have to - again - act like he's "doing something". This continuing cycling in of 'fresh meat' means more and more antigun legislation is thrown out there just to give the appearance of activity; even with a fight, some of it sticks.

Before term limits, CA politicians at least got tired of tiresome behavior.
