Can't believe this is in the MSM

Newsweek, no less. How far have things come!

Reader Carl in Chicago sends links to two ABC News stories on the students:

Story one;

Story two.

its too hard to comment on their site, else I would post..

"But critics say such legislation would not have stopped suspected Northern Illinois shooter Steven P. Kazmierczak from carrying out his violent spree. "

Seemed to me that it worked in at New Life Church in CO?

Scott Lewis makes a lot more sense than a tearful "if we save just one life" gun ban advocate who has taken the precautionary principle way past any legitimate cost/benefit comparison.

Hurrah. Maybe the tide is shifting enough that even a Newsweek has to take notice.

We need a parallel effort to a) make it easier to commit the mentally to to institutions which will incarcerate them and b) to fund such institutions. There is not doubt that these facilities will not be pretty to be in or to operate, but the reality is we are much worse off leaving the psychotic to their own devices.

ABC news is giving this come coverage, as well. Of course, the talking head is WAY skeptical...but we've come a long way already. Any coverage of this possible issue (elimination of gun free zones) is encouraging.

I tried to post the links but David's spam-blocker won't allow it. Email me for links.

Jaw-dropping.

One wonders what the implications for the Heller case might be.

"You know, I wish I could tell you that there was a panacea for this kind of thing, but you've noticed that there's been multiple shootings all over this country within the last six months," NIU Police Chief Don Grady told reporters. "It's a horrendous circumstance, and ... it's unlikely that anyone would ever have the ability to stop an incident like this from beginning."

Nope, can't keep it from beginning, but you can sure as hell stop it sooner...If it saves even one life, isn't having concealed carry on campus worth it?
