New Orleans seizures

Posted by David Hardy · 20 August 2007 11:35 AM

A thoughtful post.

"If they ask you, 'Why does anyone need to own a gun?' Remember New Orleans.

If they say to you, "Why does anyone need a high-capacity magazine?" Look them straight in the eye and say: Remember New Orleans.

What's wrong with a 15-day waiting period? Remember New Orleans.

What makes you think the government would ever confiscate your gun? Remember New Orleans.

Is the second amendment relevant in the 21st Century? Remember New Orleans."

I have often said that I am less concerned about needing firearms in times of revolution than I am in times of devolution. When the shit hits the fan and things devolve into "The Lord of the Flies" and it is every rat for his own ass, sometimes a firearm and only a firearm can save you and yours. Such times are almost always the result of natural disasters bringing about chaos and loss of governmental services for a few hours to a few days.

Generally speaking, you need a firearm and the means to stay warm, dry, and hydrated for about 4-5 days. Which means plastic tarps, sleeping bags, and a way to purify water. Food isn't really that important because if you aren't rescued within 4-5 days, the situation is probably so bad that most civilians had/have no hope anyway.

Thanks for posting this up, Dave. Good article and a lot of interesting comments that can be read there. We are experiencing our country going Soc1alist. Am I permitted to bring up what happens when a bunch of ignorant ghetto thugs are given affirmative action positions that include police powers. ? Then there's the pretenders, criminals wearing disguises dressed up like police and national guard. It comes down to can you make four fast head shots at 9:00,11:00, 1:00, 3:00 ? "We are from the government and we're here to help ourselves to your food, your generator, your daughter." etc.

Those four fast head shots are not necessary if, like me, you own one transferable 5.56 machine gun. It is the official squad automatic weapon for my block's militia!
