Interesting debate in Kennesaw

Posted by David Hardy · 21 August 2007 03:06 PM

Kennesaw GA just rescinded its ban on guns in parks, citing the state pre-emption law, after GeorgiaCarry.org filed suit.

The original ordinance strikes me as rather anomalous since (1) this IS Kennesaw, after all, and (2) GA requires a permit to carry openly or concealed, so anyone lawfully carrying in a park would have had to get a permit and background check first.

Here's the website for GeorgiaCarry.org.

I'm a Georgian and literally within a stone's throw of the city. I can confirm anecdotally that the law mandating the ownership of a firearm and ammunition for it in every home is VERY popular and will not stand much of a chance of being overturned in the near future, as Georgia is a very conservative and gun-friendly state.

I urge any of my fellow Georgians to join Georgia Carry to defend their rights.
