Good to know the DC handgun ban is working

Posted by David Hardy · 25 August 2007 11:57 AM

From the Wash. Examiner:

"The District of Columbia has had seven homicides in four days, the most since last summer, when a spate of 13 homicides in 11 days launched a months-long crime emergency."

Understand, this is jurisdiction of around 500,000 people, i.e., a little smaller than Tucson, much smaller than Phoenix.

D.C. is approximately the same size as Seattle or Portland, yet has twice the violent-crime rate of either, 8x the homicide rate of Seattle and 9.5x that of Portland (figures from the 2005 NCVS.)
