Fred Thompson news

Posted by David Hardy · 11 July 2007 08:26 PM

There's a comparison of Ron Paul and Fred Thompson over at Republic Renaissance. (Since the blog has R. Paul's picture in the margin, you can guess how the comparison works out).

And Thompson himself has a post over at Powerline. (Hat tip to David McCleary and to Instapundit).

Fred is a lawyer, don't we have too many of them in congress already.

Ron Paul has a pure voting record and is the real deal, vote Ron Paul.

Although I admire a liberty orientation, there are two things that have alienated me from Ron Paul.

The first are his suporters.

The second is Ron Paul himself.

As an executive, he would be an unmitigated disaster.

As a congressman, we need a couple dozen more like him, where his ideological purity would be tempered by others with a more solid grasp on history and geopolitical dynamics.

As an attorney, I agree with Thompson that the comparision of his clients to his actual views is unfair. That being said, its his voting record that is being compared to Ron Pauls voting record that counts. As Dave has pointed out he sounds good on the RKBA issues. But anyone that would vote to restrict first amendment rights will surely vote against second amendment rights. You either believe in the document or you do not. The Constitution is not a difficult document to understand nor is the Bill of Rights.

You want another typical RINO, vote for Thompson, you want a president that still takes the constitution seriously, vote for Ron Paul. Sure a lot of lobbyists representing alien interests will suffer.

What was wrong with Ron? he was the best, movie
star sure, but first he love his Country and win and fight for his Country like a good American he was one of us, one of the people.
You worried about America vote for Fred you will not be sorry, nobody will make him change his mind in issues he knows, are the best for America.
I could never vote for somone who would be influence by other countries and sell America for winning to be Prsident, pray about it pray before you vote, our futur is in danger to welcome another 9-11, ears ouside America are open to use what american think, about what we want and argue about it and use it,I vote for Fred Thompson, He trust in God, like any one good american, like my husband.
Ron was the best President we ever had, he was real American,I VOTE FOR FRED.
