Instapundit suggests there are several reasons to like Bill Richardson.

UPDATE: Here's a nice piece on him in the LA Times.

I was really pro-Richardson for a while, but he has recently shown that he is not ready for prime time and can't raise the $$ necessary to be competitive. So, the best thing about NM remains the Frontier Cafe.

Make sure to read the comment thread. There you will find the perfect example of a gun-controller vs some 2A-loving types, BUT NONE OF THEM HAS AN OUNCE OF SMARTS!

The gun-controller tries to advance the "guns are OK, but so are 'reasonable' laws" charade.

Instead of the gun-lovers jumping into his mess kit and saying "what part of 'shall not be infringed' do you fail to understand", they try to parse his words and play games. In defense of Insty, that happens all the time in his comments, which is why I don't read Insty.

The gun-controller advances the DANGEROUS theory that all guns should be allowed, but ALL SHOULD BE REGISTERED. He then does an apples vs. oranges and says "we do it with cars", totally forgetting that the original and most prevalent purpose of registering cars is taxation, not control of ownership.

The problem is that no one took him to task on the apples vs. oranges character of his example, which would have effectively destroyed his argument.

Then, of course, no one told him that the inevitable result of ANY registration scheme will be confiscation by a later, more malevolent administration.

So, back to the basics.

"Shall not be infringed"
