OIG report: FBI lost 354 firearms in 28 months

Posted by David Hardy · 12 February 2007 06:01 PM

Here's the pdf report. High points:

The first audit found 212 functional guns stolen. OIG made recommendations, and now comes back for a second audit. Which found 354 guns reported lost or stolen.

OK, Now let's figure $500 for each functioning gun & $200 for each training gun and & $1000 a computer. (These are pretty conservative estimates because we all know that Uncle Sam never buys anything at a bargain) Thats $451,400.00 just in the cost of the property alone.

Now let's consider:

Where are the firearms going?

What data is on the laptops?

All I can say is why are heads not rolling at the DOJ?

Think about this for a moment: If the FBI were a Federally Licensed Firearms Dealer, the BATFE would have already taken away their license, and probably pursued criminal prosecution. Heh.
