ESPN on athletes and guns

A rather hyped article, and apparently by someone who knows little about firearms. "That's a clip," [fired off] Scott said matter-of-factly as he looked up, emptied the cartridge from his handgun and slid the weapon into his front pocket."

"It's a pretty widely accepted statistic that if you carry a gun, your chances of being shot by one increase dramatically," Stern said.
Widely accepted? Maybe. True? No.There's the bogus result of the University of Washington study (which I have), and that only relates to "a gun in the home." I don't think there is a published statistic anywhere that says something about risk associated with carrying a gun.
