A bit of Christmas gun news

Posted by David Hardy · 26 December 2006 07:24 PM

Well, there is always one reliable gun law related thing going at Christmas -- John Snyder's Christmas card!

Normally, it gets a rise from the Washington Post, but they seem to be slacking off this year.

I'll be honest, it annoyed me when it popped up as a press release earlier this month.

Even though I had a gun themed Christmas tree, there are some times you don't stir the pot. Some (including me) might believe that those times include when you've just lost Congress and almost every leadership position is filled with anti-gunners and you've got a president who isn't exactly known for going out of his way on gun rights or standing firm on conservative principles.

I think the card design and language is designed to set people off and that's not a message we need to be focusing on this year. Thank goodness it didn't get any more attention than it did because I know I'm working towards not making things worse than they are. I think if given a reason, leadership would gladly pick a media friendly gun bill to pass.
