Miami Coach wants to discourage players with guns
Miami Hurricanes coach Larry Coker says he wants to discourage players from owning guns. This, after one of his players used a gun to protect another, who had been shot by an attacker.

"I don't really want our players to have firearms. I'd rather they would dial 911 to come and handle those type of problems," Coker said at ACC Football Kickoff media days Monday.
Coker is really optimistic about police response time while you are under fire. Somebody really oughta send the guy a copy of this. His response is truly innapropriate. He should be thanking the stars that one of his players wasn't tragically gunned down pre-season. The other player deserves a medal.
What a fascist POS. I hope there is a public outcry over his lack of concern for his player's safety, and he gets fired.
Every time I see evidence of another person in athourity who believes that being killed by a criminal is morally superior to defending onself, and that a uniform somehow magically elevates the wearer beyond all human failings, I see red.
Apparently Coach does not consider it to be the merest dumb luck that the player was only injured superficially and was back at practice two days later. He apparently has no trouble with the possibility that two players might be out on disability for a substantial time due to his desired policy. Who said that the wound by the assailant had to be superficial, and who said the assailant would not have shot either player again more seriously?
