Winchester closing doors in New Haven

Posted by David Hardy · 11 February 2006 02:23 PM

Winchester is closing down its plant in New Haven, CN. Winchester brand firearms are made by US Repeating Arms Co., which states it will continue their production overseas (to complicate matters, the brand name is owned by Olin).

I suppose some of those union members will now have time to ask their union leaders why the union advances the cause of gun control.

The local sporting goods stores are selling out of lever-action Winchester 94's...while there are enough replicas made by others to the original patterns for cowboy shooting, you have to wonder why Winchester couldn't make it's own replicas successfully and turn a profit.

Its a disgrace. A bloody disgrace. Another American institution down the drain. John Wayne must be turning in his grave!

THEIR QUALITY HAS BEEN GOING DOWN RAPIDLY IN THE PAST FEW YEARS.
EVERY WINCHESTER I HAVE BOUGHT IN THE LAST 6 YEARS HAD TO HAVE A LOT OF WORK DONE TO MAKE IT WORK PROPERLY & THEY ARE STILL NOT AS GOOD AS THE OLDER ONES.
I'M SURPRISED THEY STAYED IN BUISNESS THIS LONG.

I'm with Will. Good riddance. Winchester's been selling overpriced junk for decades. Colt should be the next one to go.
