Miranda's real problem wasn't that his intended victim was a "martial arts expert", but that he was a fighter. I've lost count of the number of "martial arts experts" with multiple black belts who I've seen limping away in pain when they find themselves in something like a real fight. All those moves that aren't allowed in competition tend to be the first things real fighters use.
