My annual memorial post for my wife, Frances Avery Hardy, who died on this day in 2003, age 52. Cancer got her. She died in the same hospital where our son was born, 18 years and four days before.

Today in 2009, I had the major cancer surgery which kept me offline for two days.

I'm sorry for your loss. I've read your post in the past and it is extremely touching. Thank you for sharing that.

Two years ago I lost my dad to cancer. This year our 15 year old Yorkie had to be put to sleep. One thing I've come to realize over the years is life is so precious and fleeting. There is so much most of us tend to take for granted when things are good and we are surrounded by those that we love. It's amazing how everything else becomes inconsequential when our loved ones are no longer with us. I struggle every day with trying to balance my professional life with my personal life.

My thoughts are with you as you celebrate your wife's life and mourn her passing.

My deepest sympathies. Both my wife and my mother are cancer survivors, and I treasure each minute I still have them.

I read the whole thing every year. I believe and you are in my prayers.
