James Q. Wilson on gun control

Posted by David Hardy · 20 April 2007 10:21 AM

In the LA Times. Wilson is one of the biggest names -- maybe the biggest name -- in criminology.

Comments

I am simply amazed that the LAT let Wilson's article get published. Perhaps their recent financial troubles have diminished their editorial tolerance for liberal verities (like victim disarmament laws) as dangerous to the paper's survival.

Gun control is dead, and although public support for it was always a mile wide and an inch deep, 9/11 was the nail in the coffin. It doesn't work and the people know it, nearly everyone wants the option to obtain a gun if they want or need one, and more importantly: politicians have discovered that it is a loser for them politically.

Actually, living in Texas with my LIBERAL family members...9/11 set the coffin out but Katrina nailed the lid on tight !
