Some Connecticut police refusing to enforce AW law

Posted by David Hardy · 7 March 2014 07:55 PM

[UPDATE: several commentors have noted they cannot find any Connecticut Peace Officers Association online... nor can I. I've emailed the person who emailed me on this, asking for info. His indication had been that the article (which he attached) would be online in a few days at http://ezinearticles.com/. Until he responds, or does not respond, I'd treat this as a possible hoax. I would have done more digging except that when I posted I was on a plane, as part of 4,000-miles-in-36-hours trip.]

[FURTHER UPDATE: Actually, update to an update. I was absolutely sure this was a hoax and there was no story, when the story appeared online. I'd checked with ezinearticles.com, and they'd said the author was not enrolled to post there -- I guess they were wrong. Now, this doesn't cure the problem that the CPOA can't be found, but at least there is a story.]

[UPDATED UPDATE: one of the commentors, down toward the very end, notes there is a Wikipedia article on the CPOA ... but it was created this afternoon, by the author of the article. Yep, the article may be real but it's a hoax.]

Tyler Jackson has emailed me an interesting story, soon to appear online (I'll link to it once it does)-- the gist is that the head of the Connecticut Peace Officers' Assn has released an open letter stating that the police will not "be party to the oppression of the people of the state by enforcing an unconstitutional law." So far 250 LEOs have cosigned the letter.

The CT law required the registration of AWs, with a deadline for doing so, and it appears that the vast majority of AW owners have simply refused. So now the State faces massive resistance, and some portion, perhaps a large portion, of police refusing to enforce.

Barry will put his DHS and their millions of rounds of ammo to work against the serfs. States rights? Barry has a pen and a phone!

Basil Duke | March 8, 2014 8:19 AM | Reply

Encouraging. Let's hope these decent Americans outnumber those of their LEO 'brothers' who stand on the wrong side of history.

SenatorMark4 | March 8, 2014 9:01 AM | Reply

The only encouragement you can take from this is that there may be a rebellion at the polls in November. If the same lackeys get elected once more, probably with cell phone votes(?), then the worst is yet to come.

Luke | March 8, 2014 10:40 AM | Reply

They are probably just refusing not out support for the people, but out of fear of their own hides! Who wants to show up to abuse an armed populous?

Anonymous | March 8, 2014 10:49 AM | Reply

It's a step in the right direction. The question now becomes, will they stand with the people of Connecticut, rather than merely not standing against them?

John S. Cinque | March 8, 2014 11:06 AM | Reply

At least there are some Oath keeping police officers in the state of Connecticut

Who cares what Barry does? We will do what is right and prevail, nothing else matters.

Akatsukami | March 8, 2014 1:26 PM | Reply

There does not seem to be a "Connecticut Peace Officers' Association". Is it certain this is not a hoax or urban legend?

Trisha | March 8, 2014 1:28 PM | Reply

Thank you to the Officers who are AMERICAN PEOPLE and refuse to disarm the AMERICAN PEOPLE WHO HAVE THE INALIENABLE RIGHT TO BEAR FIRE ARMS. And GOD BLESS AMERICA and those who remember that it is better to die a hero saving your people from an inevitable slaughter (no Government registers guns in order to let you keep them and be free) then to die a coward "going along" because you think they wont rip that free-ride right out from under your stupid ass the minute they have the rest under control.

I predict this will end badly, but in favor of the current regime. The Essential Rules of Tyranny are:
Rule 1: Keep Them Afraid
Rule 2: Keep Them Isolated
Rule 3: Keep Them Desperate
Rule 4: Send Out The Jackboots
Rule 5: Blame Everything On The Truth Seekers
Rule 6: Encourage Citizen Spies
Rule 7: Make Them Accept The Unacceptable

http://www.alt-market.com/articles/198-the-essential-rules-of-tyranny

Stand by for enforcement of Rule #7, otherwise known as "the big stick hits Connecticut".

Either works.

"... now the State faces massive resistance ..."

By people armed with "assault" weapons.

Does not bode well for any police who try to enforce the law.

We need to remember we are part of the UN if we do not urge them to get out of it when unrest happens over here they will send in their troops and we will have a bigger battle on our hands. We need to get out of the UN because President Clinton authorized them to enter the United States if such an occurrence happened.

Thunderstixx | March 8, 2014 5:39 PM | Reply

Oh yeah, bring on the Blue Helmets !!! The UN is the least of our worries my friends.
I am inclined to go along with Luke. Those guys know that they are hopelessly outnumbered and that a lot of us are really good shots and a lot are also combat Veterans.
I was Non combat infantry but I still remember the most important parts of defense and moving on a target.
The cops like most of the left are terrified of us...
GOOD DAMMIT !!!

Although there's dogma to the contrary, I haven’t much faith in modern, populist USA movements being successful. All one needs to read is history of the Molly Mcguires, Pullman Strikes, and the various coal workers’ wars to see when the chips are down the American Elites and Government crushes the troublemakers.

The only hope is what David Petzal blogged; “As the late Dr. Hunter S. Thompson once observed, societies can keep people in check only up to a point. When more people than the cops can handle get cheesed off about something it can cause the dissolution of a large and well established police state (the U.S.S.R.), at least three revolutions (American, French, and Russian) and issue-based insurrections too numerous to count….”

This Ct [and NY SAFE Act] non-compliance is lighting the fuse.

They don't have much choice. Turns out better then half of the scofflaws were/are CT cops, heh, heh, heh.

Sandy Hook was a false flag operation using crisis actors to garner an emotional response so they could move to attack the 2nd amendment right to bear arms. We know that now because thanks to alternative media and blogs the truth has been revealed. This governor colluded with Obama, holder, and the dhs to wage an attack against its citizenry. We know that now. The minute the police move to try and take the guns by force committing treason and an act of war on American Soil against its citizens, the militia will come to the aid of the American Citizens and that, you can take to the bank.

Jason replied to comment from Luke | March 9, 2014 1:15 AM | Reply

Luke, as a law enforcement professional, I think I can speak for them. They truly are standing up for the people's constitutional rights. Most police officers are citizens who care just as much about freedom as any good patriot.

Dana King | March 9, 2014 4:43 AM | Reply

Jason, you can f#ck off. If it wasn't for you, and the stormtroopers like you who keep the fascists in power, like obama and reed, "we" would be able to live free.

Who cares what the real reason is that they're doing it? Whether they're afraid for their own lives, or they're truly interested in upholding the Constitution - we, the people, are the winners - for now.

Now that they've drawn their own line in the sand, we have to wait and see how the state responds. Cll in the National Guard? Ask for federal assistance? The closer they get to that tactic, the less likely it is that this will end peacefully.

Anonymous | March 9, 2014 8:31 AM | Reply

There are MANY of us here in NY who are waiting on the sidelines. If things do get ugly, we are coming. The government isn't careless enough to carry out a general confiscation. Perhaps one-by-one, over time, an incrementalist approach. This is a test case, and the government is watching what we as a People will do.

Dan Knowles replied to comment from Anonymous | March 9, 2014 9:04 AM | Reply

False flags don't mean a complete hoax. No doubt children died. The accusation is that they were murdered by the state, not the nut job blamed for it.

So...if the gun owner/patriots do nothing and the police do nothing.....problem solved and no one gets hurt. The brass can not fire EVERYBODY and those idiot politicians who started this whole mess are going to have to rethink (HA) their ideas on gun control.

Stranded in Sonoma | March 9, 2014 10:27 AM | Reply

I have searched the web for any and all references similar to Connecticut Peace Officers' Assn and have turned up NOTHING.

Is this a hoax? We'd all better make sure this is the truth before we become liberals and start citing a non-existent organization and a false story.

Paul Taylor | March 9, 2014 10:35 AM | Reply

A well regulated police force, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

Here is hoping that all the good men and women stand together and do not allow this to get to the point where we have to prove why it is important that we have the 2nd Amendment to help us defend our freedoms!!!

Is this the original article?

Anonymous | March 10, 2014 5:49 PM | Reply

I'm sure the article is a hoax. Here's why. When I googled CT Peace Officers Assn earlier today, there were no hits. When I googled it just now, there was a solid hit, to a Wikipedia entry for it.

But when I checked the entry's history -- it was created TODAY, by the author of the article.

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Connecticut_Peace_Officers_Association&action=history

He's obviously read the comments here asking why this mythical organization cannot be found, and given it a Wikipedia entry.

Anonymous | March 10, 2014 6:01 PM | Reply

Real or not, it seems there is extensive public support for such a group. Connecticut LEOs take note! If you aren't sure about this law, the people will support you in your civil disobedience!

Chris Lemos | March 10, 2014 6:59 PM | Reply

Dave, you're killing me! I've been a follower of your work for as long as I can remember, and you're better then this!
Yeah, now there is an article, and Tyler Jackson even includes his photo in his bio. Problem is, it's actually a photo of a little known comedian named Tim Northern.

Chris Lemos | March 10, 2014 7:07 PM | Reply

Oh, and there is also no record of a Torrey Grimes here in Connecticut either. Pretty unusual for a 25yr police veteran and chairman of an organization representing police officers, don't ya think? See how fast you can come up with the chairman of the CTPAC, the Police Association of Connecticut, which is the real legitimate org here.

Chris Lemos | March 10, 2014 7:32 PM | Reply

OK, I'm still not done. The brandy-spanking new wikipedia entry for the "Connecticut Police Officer's Assn" claims it's involvement in politics and lobbying. Well, here in CT, all lobbyists must be licensed. A check with the CT Office of Ethics does not show them ever licensed to lobby here in CT. You can also research testimony submitted to the legislator, and I find nothing filed in their name either. Couple that with the fact that no police officer here has ever heard of them.

Margot Pennington | March 10, 2014 10:49 PM | Reply

I truly feel sorry for the police of Connecticut, for if no one but the police can have arms they will have to hire millions of police or they will be put down by the criminals.
