National right to carry considered in the House
Story here. Never thought I'd live to see the day... Back in 1968, it took much effort just to keep it to GCA 68 instead of national registration and permit proposals that were floating and had serious support. It stayed that way for a decade.

Oh, the old "guns are bad. mmkay." theory of 2nd Amendment interpretation. Right there in the BOR.

The conservatives will oppose it as a violation of "states rights." Too bad they don't put in bills to kill every other federal gun law as a violation o states rights.

"Foes also said that the law could allow violent offenders to hold on to their weapons."
The violent offender is already breaking the law and if a permit is obtained under false pretenses, that's another strike. A violent offender is likely to simply ignore the law and carry without a permit...permits usually involve background checks everyplace I know of.

See U.S. Constitution Article IV Section 1
This has nothing to do with States rights.
Full Faith and Credit.
We are talking about States that issue permits/licenses. If the State does not issue then they don't have to play.
Are you happy you can use your Drivers License in all states?
