Yep. And Dems are noticing. In fact, there is an article today in the NYT belly aching about how states are relaxing their gun laws and the Obama administration isn't uttering a peep. And how Obama isn't living up to his campaign promises about gun control.

Let's see here, says Obama, a lot of Dem congresscritters are about as popular right now as a skunk with the clap. Maybe now isn't the best time to try and revive that whole assault weapons ban thing.

Now how many more people are affected by unpopular health care reform, and what does that portend for the Dems?

But, but, I thought (I heard) that gun control was a Health Care issue! Isn't that why the American Medical Association shot their mouth off, er, joined the debate?

A false flag group could really stir up a hornet's nest by "championing" some gun control language in the Comprehensive Health Care bill. It might be in there already for all I know. 2,000 pages is a lot o'reading.

I had over my desk back then the Jan '95 Cleveland Plain Dealer article with the headline, "Clinton Blames Loss on NRA." Clinton only gave us credit for tossing out 20 House members, only because he didn't want to give us further props for getting rid of FIFTY treasonous House members--the real number--because it would have given us public recognition of power he did not want us to have.

The R leadership was happy to play along only because they agreed with Clinton and did not want to give an outside, "extreme" group like the NRA any credibility for their elevation to power.

The boneheads in the Speaker's Office and Sen Maj Leaders Office never recognized what we gave them because of hubris and misguided arrogance on their part. Couldn't believe it when I saw it with my own eyes in staff meetings; they should have sacked the lot on the spot for blinding stupidity. And it all fell apart in the '98 midterms when we came this || close to losing it all because the R Congressional leadership started believing their own press releases.

Slick was always going to weasel out of responsibility for losing both houses of Congress, but I was shocked when our Rs didn't recognize it was the NRA who handed them the keys to the nation, and not their immediately forgettable "Contract with America." They could have kept power if they only acknowledged--and legislatively delivered through repeal of the semi-auto ban and more--the fact that it was the 2A that got them both houses.

And the imbeciles in leadership still haven't learned to this day...

Perhaps you will learn someday the Democrats and Republicans aren't all that different underneath the skin...
