More on DC legislation

Posted by David Hardy · 15 September 2008 06:17 PM

Yup, back in town, dog tired.

The Washington Post reports that the DC City Council is considering a further retreat, to try to avoid Congressional legislation. It may repeal the ban on semiautos, and the requirement that firearms be disassembled or trigger locked.

Lets see... Dems...dont like guns...said first time around they would comply w/scotus ruling, didn't! (suprised? no) Now second try at this suprise suprise same same, first say we will allow this and that then later in artical we will keep everything, PJ Nickles..."says district would continue to have tough firearms laws...srticly regulate registration of handguns and no authorization of automatics or semiautomatics"! As i said same same nothing is going to change with DC council in charge, congress still needs to step in and take this matter away from DC, But i dont hold my breath with the dems in congress/senate at this time.

"A state cannot impose a license, tax or fee on a
constitutionally protected right."
Murdock vs. Pennsylvania 319 US 105 (1942)

Now DC is not a state, but I suspect the principle is similar. Of course, and you must have a court that is willing to follow stare decisis.
