McCain picks Gov. Sarah Palin for VP

Posted by David Hardy · 29 August 2008 09:35 AM

She's an NRA lifer, which is good, and a hunter. Gotta say, she adds more to his ticket than Biden adds to Obama's.

and she wants to open ANWR, so, great. there's just one problem here: mccain and the eternal warfare state.

With Biden Obama got himself an attack dog to appease the rabid moonbats, it was an offensive strategy and I'm not sure it will pay off since Biden bites his own foot as often as anybody else.

Jon above laments "McCain and the eternal warfare state";

If it helps, Obama will deliver much the same, just "kindler", gentler Empire. Troops will be pulled out of Iraq (only to be supplanted by Blackwater en masse), then re-deployed to Afghanistan and probably expanded operations in Pakistan (with or without Pakistan's cooperation). Obama has also expressed a desire to "re-engage" with Latin America, which has up to now been grateful for Bush's comparative benign neglect.

I'm all for ANWR drilling, if only to get the Republicans to shut up about it and to show everyone else it won't make a damn bit of difference.

At least McCain/Palin will leave my guns alone and appoint Supreme Court justices who will respect the Heller decision.

"At least McCain/Palin will leave my guns alone and appoint Supreme Court justices who will respect the Heller decision."

Continue that thought for Palin vs Hillary in 2012.

She was my pick months ago, but I told whoever I was talking to about it "too bad it'll never happen".

-McCain will probably turn his campaign theme into Reform, Reform Reform. New slogan "Change that isn't just a lot of hot air".

-Palin has more executive experience than the entire D ticket, not to mention a better resume than Obama himself.

-The matchup is a couple of asshole lawyers vs a war hero and a blue collar worker who was union member.

-Life member of the NRA, eater of moose.

-HubbaHubba

I can't stand McCain and was torn about having to vote for him, but I can enthusiastically vote for McCain/Palin and be comforted by the thought of McCain not lasting out his term in office.

If women's rights groups are infuriated about the way Hillary was treated, wait until they see how the MSM and the Libs treat Palin. Of course, it probably won't matter to them. Once upon a time they cared about lower class women being victimized by powerful men, too. Until the Slickster got caught banging the scrub women. Then it was all "Hey, its just about sex, and boys will be boys, and besides, she was a STALKER!"

i appreciate your point, jjr, but no it will not help. it hardly matters what good the country does when it is accomplishing it through evil, be it welfare or warfare. i do in fact complain just as loud about obama, when given the opportunity, you can count on that. :)

Palin brings more to the ticket than does McCain himself.

Posted by: straightarrow at August 29, 2008 03:56 PM

I was gonna say...I'll vote for Governor Palin, as she is a truly worthwhile candidate. McCain just to vote against BHO.

"Palin brings more to the ticket than does McCain himself."

Wow, it's like 2000 all over again! LOL! Anyway, I like Palin and think she is a rock solid choice for McCain.

BHO I think has his hands full in disputing his choice as well. This is beautiful and will put the Obama campaign in the unenviable position of reacting. Very nice!

I'll vote for Palin, McCain is a total loss but he comes with the package. If they win it also helps put the screws to Hilly and Willy in the next go 'round

Only in America! She's achieved based on her merits (what about yours Barry?), knows how to handle a weapon (Barry?)and has run a marathon (Obama would cough his guts out before he got a fwew miles). She has core conservative values and won't advocate robbing American's pockets and seizing their weapons. Oh, but Barry will protect us and give us what we need. I hope Barry Messiah gets creamed in the election and never shows his face again.

33% of Americans don't believe she is
qualified to be President?

They are naming her the next Dan Quayle

Posted by: Marcus Poulin at August 30, 2008 03:51 PM

don't swoon over her being a gun rights fan...she relates it mainly to hunting..which is similar to obama...she also thinks "regulation" in certain areas of the country (ie cities) may be ok. Bill of Rights may not apply there ..right?
read her as being like mc cain--a future stabber-in-the-back of the 2nd amendment.

Swiped from the comments section of the Jawa Report:

Something to point out to Dem buffoons:

Alaska is the first line of defense in our missile interceptor defense system. The 49th Missile Defense Battalion of the Alaska National Guard is the unit that protects the entire nation from ballistic missile attacks. It’s on permanent active duty, unlike other Guard units.

As governor of Alaska, Palin is briefed on highly classified military issues, homeland security, and counterterrorism. Her exposure to classified material may rival even Biden's.

She's also the commander in chief of the Alaska State Defense Force (ASDF), a federally recognized militia incorporated into Homeland Security's counterterrorism plans.

Palin is privy to military and intelligence secrets that are vital to the entire country's defense. Given Alaska's proximity to Russia, she may have security clearances we don't even know about.

According to the Washington Post, she first met with McCain in February, but nobody ever found out.

This is a woman used to keeping secrets. She can be entrusted with our national security, because she already is.

She is also involved with negotiations with Canada, Russia, Japan, Seattle, and several other foreign countries.

Palin has more executive experience and just as much foreign policy experience as John Edwards did when Kerry put him on the ticket in 2004.

I didn't hear anyone on the left wringing their hands over Edwards' lack of experience.

Similarily, the left couldn't stop bleating about their "war hero" John Kerry in 2004. Now, McCain's actual heroism is simply not newsworthy.

If the media didn't cover for them, Democrats would never win a national election. Ever. What a joke.

According to a 12/10/06 article in the Herald Tribune:

"While the 49th is an Alaska National Guard unit, Hildreth reports to Colonel Michael Yowell, commander of the 100th Missile Defense Brigade, based in Colorado."

Apparently Palin is NOT Commander in Chief when it comes to this "special" unit. Funny how the author of the original blog post failed to mention that. Notice that he or she never explicitly stated that Palin was commander of the 49th. Rather, he or she only stated that the 49th was in Alaska. Hmmm...
