Ark. AG supports Parker/Heller plaintiffs
He says sign onto a brief for state attorneys general in the case. The Texas AG has the lead on it.
UPDATE: What can you do about it? Call or write your AG. They're directly elected in every state I can think of. You're their constituent and voter.

I've written my NH Attorney General to get on board. I hope others will do the same.
"Live Free Or Die"
We shall see.
I've written my IL AG, as have other sujects* of this state.
* see below
We hold little hope that the state government will alter its position on this matter.
Constitution of the State of Illinois
ARTICLE I
BILL OF RIGHTS
SECTION 22. RIGHT TO ARMS
Subject only to the police power, the right of the individual citizen to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.
(Emphasis mine. Some right that is, when it's subject to police power via the legislature)
Carl,
Youch! No wonder you guys have such lousy state gun laws. I much prefer the wording of New Hampshire's:
"All persons have the right to keep and bear arms in defense of themselves, their families, their property and the state"
I fired off a quick e-mail to Bob McDonnell, AG of VA.
Just a general suggestion, look up "Police" in Black's Law Dictionary.
"Police" doesn't mean the cops.
Well, I would encourage my state AG to join in the fun...but he already did.
Maybe I should send Mike Cox a quick note of thanks.
I don't even want to mention it to my publicity hound AG. He might be encouraged to support DC. Might be best to keep it off his radar.
This is good news, but not surprising. For those readers who might not know, here is a break-down of states/cities that filed amici during this case....
DC Circuit:
Pro-DC (anti-gun rights) - MA, MD, NJ, cities of Boston, Chicago, New York
Pro-Parker (pro-gun rights) - TX, AL, AR, CO, FL, GA, MI, MN, NE, ND, OH, UT, WY
Supreme Court (petition stage):
Pro-DC (anti-gun rights) - NY, HI, IL, MD
Question posed to David Hardy:
Is there any way that citizens at large can effectively encourage their own state's Attorneys General to get "on-board" with the pro-gun rights states and this amicus curiae? It would be great to make a very strong showing. I am VERY displeased with my own state's (Illinois) position on this issue. They are clearly on the wrong (incorrect) side of the issue here.
