An interesting perspective

Posted by David Hardy · 7 August 2007 01:42 PM

Imprisoning gun-using offenders is the price of compromise to the Brady Campaign. At least it's good to know they don't actively oppose the idea:

"Gun control advocates have largely supported longer sentences as compromises in order to win support for gun control laws. Chad Ramsey, field director for the anti-gun Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, says his organization believes such "after-the-fact" laws can be helpful for that reason.

"As part of a broader package, we're not going to oppose things like that," Ramsey said. He added, however, "I don't think criminals go out there and don't commit crimes because they're going to get a slightly longer sentence.""

"I don't think criminals go out there and don't commit crimes because they're going to get a slightly longer sentence."

That's some surprisingly narrow-minded thinking, although maybe not so narrow minded when you consider the source. How about "While criminals might not be dissuaded from crime by slightly longer sentences, is sure is hard to commit crimes while you're behind bars, duh."

Do the words "repeat offenders" have no meaning with the Brady clan?

argh, I meant "maybe not so suprising." Dang it.

My thoughts exactly. Your first post, not your second. Well, your first post as edited by your second post. That's pretty much just about nearly exactly what I was pretty much thinking.

Its Liberal Canon that whites should never exercise authority over non-whites, never prevail in any contest, fight, legal action, arguement, nothing. That principle can be applied to why they dont want airline pilots armed, why they want to lose in Iraq, the Muslim Bakery incident, most capital offense cases, illegal aliens, the handing our nuclear secrets to the Chicoms, that provides the motivation behind everything they do to tear down America.

"I don't think criminals go out there and don't commit crimes because they're going to get a slightly longer sentence."

But they will obey a law restricting the possession of firearms? Yeah, that's very logical.

Well, you see, it's sort of a mind control thing. Normally peaceful, law-abiding people come within a critical distance of a firearm and the psychic emanations from the gun start to influence their minds. The next thing you know, they're robbing convenience stores, selling crack on their kids' school grounds, killing their spouses, and even voting for conservative candidates. Eliminate the guns, and all the evil in the world goes away.

Voting for conservative candidates!! Not that! How horrific! I mean, I can understand robbing convenience stores and selling crack, but how depraved must they be to vote ... Republican??

Although these days, the Republicans are not really "conservative" anymore...
