Another dumb crook
A gang member goes on a burglary run, with his mother driving the car. He breaks in and rushes the lady homeowner, who puts three rounds of .38 into him (excellent shooting -- 3 out of 4 hit). Driving away, and trying to find the way to a hospital, his mother flags down a passing car. To be precise, the sheriff's squadcar responding to the homeowner's 911 call.

From the DailyNews.com article, "the woman shot him with a Smith & Wesson .38-caliber revolver. Frightened, she hit him twice in the abdomen and once in the leg, missing a fourth shot, Bryski said."
Seems to me this makes the case for larger caliber handgun. That would have reduced the court and incarceration dollars that tax payers will now have to cough up.

In a French world, the homeowner would have been brought up on charges and the perp would become a causa celebre!
