In his blog, Clayton Cramer posts a critique of Prof. Cornell's "civic right" approach.

Thanks for the link to the article. Cramer writes "I don't know how Professor Cornell could have read much of the primary or secondary sources on this question ... --and missed this important theme." This is true of more than a few scholars of early American history - selective focus never hurt their interpretation either.
