Another "grassroots" surrogate of Joyce Foundation
So... I come across a press release today from the Legal Community Against Violence, which claims it was founded by attorneys in response to gun violence, etc., etc., and has created a "a first-of-its-kind publication designed for public officials and advocates working to reduce gun violence across the country."
My first thought: one more Joyce Foundation clone, a supposed "grassroots" organization in fact created by Joyce's millions, and with a membership at best in the dozens. But perhaps I'm too cynical.
Nope. Hop over to Joyce Foundation's webpage and we find among its grants:
"Legal Community Against Violence
San Francisco, CA $380,000
For general support. (2 yrs.)"
And, as might be expected, a search of Legal Comm. Against Violence's own website reveals... not one mention of who are their officers, directors, or how many members they have. In fact, no names at all. One more plywood cutout, backed by Joyce's money.

David, Glad you made it back from the People's Republic. Some of us inmates are still here. With respect to the Joyce Foundation and their ilk, what does it take to make these guys life unpleasant?

Just keep buying and shooting guns, that in itself has them upset.

Hey David, have you checked out the Freedom States Alliance that the Gun Guys belong to? If you have not, it too is another Joyce front. The next grant down from the one you posted is this one;
Mark Karlin & Associates
Chicago, IL $650,000
To support the continued efforts of its Freedom States Alliance, a project to promote financial self-sufficiency and effective media, public, and policy-maker education efforts among gun violence prevention groups, especially those in Illinois and Wisconsin.
(18 mos.)
I wonder how much of that $650,000 grant the Gun Guys gets? Which begs the question, are the Gun Guys yet another extension of the Joyce Foundation?

How can I get a peice of that action?
I would be more than willing to put up a website that subtly parodies the victim-disarmament crowd for $650k ...

So how does this work?
I assume that one/some/several people approached the Joyce Foundation with a proposal to "do something" and requested $380,000. If they do that 'something' successfully, then the next time they ask for money, they have a track record and can get more.
What do these people want to do? How can we thwart them while they are still small?
