Ouch!

Posted by David Hardy · 2 May 2006 10:30 AM

Last entry before leaving for the plane--last night I got nailed by a bark scorpion while in the back yard. Ouch! Nailed me in the foot, and the leg is still tingling halfway up the shin (their venom is mainly neurotoxic). So I got out my big sprayer and nuked the area, and that around every door and window, with insecticide. Teach that little sucker who to play with...

Haha, gosh I'm sorry to hear about that! Your post was funny though, hence the laughter :o)

I suspect the little devil was sent by the javelina you've been spying on with infrared equipment. They get very touchy about their night-life privacy. They use a lot of stealth in tipping over the garbage. (For whatever reason, both the bark scorpions and rattlesnakes seem thick this year. My neighbor had to eject a four footer out of his house--he left the door open to carry some stuff in from the car--and the next day I had about a two-and-a-half-footer trying to get inside from the patio.)

Reminds me of the yellow jacket in the soda can incident. Zapped me right on the lip!

Watch for hate email from PETA!

Google Search: "The venom of this scorpion can cause severe pain and swelling at the site of the sting, numbness, frothing at the mouth, respiratory difficulties, muscle twitching, and convulsions."

Sounds like anti-gun liberals reaction to pro-gun legislation.

"An antivenom was created by Arizona State University but is no longer being produced, and is not FDA approved. The FDA has recently given approval for clinical trials to evaluate a Mexican antivenom for use in the United States."
