Nordyke finally finished...

Cert. denied. Thus finishes the Methusala of gun rights cases, one that was literally filed in the last century.

· Nordyke v. King

Can someone post a brief synopsis on this case and this latest news? One that us non-lawyers can understand would be helpful, as I don’t know if this is a win for us (gun owners) or not.

The Nordykes "won" in that the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals will "hold the county to it's interpretation allowing gun shows to be conducted with firearms tethered to the tables" much like they are done in other counties. The Nordykes lost in that they deserved fees and damages but due to the unique posture - were denied them - that was what the cert petition was about.

Expect to see an Alameda Fairgrounds gun show in the next 90 days.

It's amazing that so much effort was expended over so long and managed to achieve so little. I don't mean that as a knock on the plaintiffs, it just seems like this case went on forever and ended in a wimper.

Well, they did win the right to have a gun show on county property, which was indeed point of the suit (as I understand it).
