Thanks Anon (I avoid video); I really like how they went out of their way, with specifics, in their praise of the citizen. Not to mention the officer's performance under fire the moment he arrived, these top dogs in local law enforcement take combat seriously.

Of course, it helped a lot that putting the perp in a crossfire the moment the officer retrieved his "assault rifle" made a big difference, but too many departments would give the citizen begrudging praise or worse. Reminds me of what I'd expect here if such an incident came to pass, where the police have gone on record to say a resident had an "absolute right" to use lethal force in her defense against home invaders. Then again, my part of SW Missouri is part of the cultural South.

It's a good thing that this particular citizen (nor any friend or relative) hadn't been the earlier victim of a "wrong address" SWAT Raid. It might have affected his attitude.

The police need community support more than they think.
