More on ATF "gun walker"

Posted by David Hardy · 21 March 2011 06:09 PM

Here's the CBS coverage. More agencies are reportedly involved, including DHS and at least one Ass't US Attorney.

I'm starting to see folks around the internet say that the attacks on Libya are a Wag The Dog to keep Gun Walker off the front pages. WOW! Just how deep does this Gun Walker run.

According to CSR report R-41075 entitled "Southwest Border Violence: Issues in Identifying and Measuring Spillover Violence Congressional Research" page 33:

"ICE has primary jurisdiction over investigations relating to the cross-border smuggling of firearms and other weapons out of the United States. ATF participates as a result of its authority over weapons being illegally sold and transported within the United States."

If this statement is in fact correct, ATF had absolutely no business worrying about trying to take down "Mr Big". That project was way above their pay grade.

Also, looks as if Eric and Janet need to start concocting a CYA story. Decisions to start a Gunwalker project would have had to be made in ivory towers to which ATF wouldn't have had access.

How deep indeed?

I would not be surprised if the umbrella project was something reported as part of the daily briefings the President received.

I would not be surprised if the umbrella project was something reported as part of the daily briefings the President received.

If so, history repeats itself: What did he know and when did he know it.
