Passing of a genuinely heroic figure
I refer to Col. Robert L. Howard, of Waco TX. Special Forces, five tours in Vietnam, eight purple hearts, a Medal of Honor, and two more nominations for that which instead got him a Distinguished Service Cross and a Silver Star.
Comments
I was once privileged to listen to Col. Howard speak, and he was a truly amazing individual.
It appears that the link doesn't allow you to go direct to the obit and takes you to the main page for the funeral home - just click on "Obituaries" and scroll down to his name & click on the picture.

I don't know how these guys survived the careers they led.
I know. Many just like them didn't.

RIP, Colonel.
Another MoH recipient recently passed. Colonel Lew Millett. A family friend for nearly sixty years.

Lew took over my dad's company (E/27) after my dad was killed in action.
