Regret to report...

Posted by David Hardy · 23 May 2009 10:30 AM

My blogging will be light in the next week, and maybe the week thereafter. I've been diagnosed with bladder cancer. The doc took out the four tumors, but they proved to be high grade and thus almost certain to recur, at about 4-5 year intervals, 10% chance of fatality each time. The solution is to remove the bladder and make a new one out of small intestine tissue. That'll be done Tuesday at noon local, and I'll be in the hospital for 1-3 weeks. They do have high speed internet, but I'll be out of it for a while.

UPDATE: I'll be at University Medical Center, 1501 N. Campbell, Tucson 85724.

Dammit.

Take heart, though; things are a hell of a lot better than they used to be. My ex had cancer when we were married, and a while after the divorce it showed back up again, had already metastasized before they found it; she beat it then, too, and is still around.

Maybe you could send your dirty no good bladder to Obama with the note: "I wouldn't piss on you if you were on fire, and here's proof - my empty bladder."

Or maybe you could get your bladder tanned and turned into a holster. It'll be a first.

Oh yeah, hospital beds are a freaking nightmare to sleep on, so maybe you should find a couple of cute nurses to give you a rub down every night and to make sure the equipment that is associated with your bladder still works. :)

Mr. Hardy,

It was great to meet you at the Back Lot Film Festival and take you on the grand tour of Culver City's finest cultural attractions (the local gun store, the Jewish deli, and Denny's!).

You are a fine person for all the hard fighting you have been doing for the Second Amendment for all these years.

Thank you for the movie poster from the showing of "In Search of the Second Amendment." I am finally getting around to having it framed today.

I am not a devout person--rather skeptical most of the time--but I'll send up requests for divine intervention on your behalf just the same.

I wish you the best.

Good luck.

Your fellow fighter in Southern California,

"Tarn Helm"

Posted by: Tarn Helm at May 24, 2009 06:57 AM

P.S.:

Would you mind posting the address where you could be visited in the hospital? (If not, a need for privacy is readily understood.)

Again, I wish you the best,

"Tarn Helm"
