telling him to kindly forget about an "assault weapon ban."

Yeehaw! Good on 'em - even my own is on that list!

Anyone feel like they just walked into Bizarro World ? LOL

Well knock me over with a feather. It's well written and hits all of the high spots. Good on 'em, indeed. I've kept a copy of the letter and will look for their names on future gun related legislation.

Definitely good, but I'd like to see a similar letter from Senate Dems.
Baucus, Begich, maybe Webb and a few others to offset the Rinos like Snowe, Collins, and Sphincter.

Wow! This is totally unexpected. Mine's on there too. Don't forget that Congresscritters, much like horses, need encouragement. So don't forget to call them up and voice approval.

I see that our own Gabrielle Giffords is not on the list. We'll have to ask her why. And I hope it becomes an issue in 2010.

It's good to see a couple of the Dems from Georgia on here. My own rep, Phil Gingrey, is utterly against any new AWB, but it's nice to see other Georgian reps uniting on one issue.

Let's see ...
The US house consists of 435 voting members, right now of which 257 are Demo's, and 178 are Repubs. Given that a simple majority is 218 votes ... if these 65 Demos voted against a ban on semiautos, it would take 26 Repubs voting FOR such a bill to pass it.
And then there is that issue of the constitution.

Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.

There may not be a new ban.
But there are other means....such as new taxes, "fees", (etc.) which can be employed by the Administration.

I think DAD29 is right. Given the recent notice that Mil Brass was to re shredded insead of sold for reloading, and other talk about bullet tax and so forth I think that is the likely route. And they had the perfect excuse - the economy! They'll balance the budget by taxing bullets and all their components. After all it is only a luxury item.

Then there's the people who watch too much TV, stuff like CSI, and think it's real. They'll believe the stuff about microstamping and ammunition accountability.
Look out.

I took the time to compile the list and post over on a forum I frequent. I've also sent this over to Tom Gresham in hopes he'll pass this on in his show notes this Sunday.

I found this article from Gun News Daily about the gun culture in Mexico. This article seemed appropriate given the Obama Administration's flimsy excuse about Mexico's civil war being the fault of the 2A.
Seems the natives could care less about Mexican gun laws--everybody has something, including full-auto military knockoffs from Pakistan and India. Fascinating article...
