Campaign dirty tricks against gun owners?

Posted by David Hardy · 31 October 2008 10:32 AM

NRA reports that gun owners in key States are receiving phone calls, fraudulently claiming to be from NRA, and stating that it has endorsed Obama.

Considering NRA's actions and endorsements of the last few decades, I can see why the phone caller might be believed.

LOL, thats just precious. Does anyone think that a gun store employee (other than maybe Mr. Cooper) would believe it?

Do they have a recording? If not, I bet it's a psyop.

How would they target gun owners? Where would they get the data that these people are gun owners?
Regardless, my response would be, "I don't care...I make up my own mind about who to vote for."

"Where would they get the data that these people are gun owners?"

How does a random gun magazine get your address to send you a solicitation? From someone who is selling an appropriate list (say, another gun magazine in this case). (Going from such lists to a phone number is of course easy.)

And lists have been known to be misused by campaigns, e.g. the Obama campaign "unlawfully obtained and made unauthorized use of a proprietary media list belonging to the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) – the trade association for the firearms industry".
