Not AGAIN!

Posted by David Hardy · 21 September 2008 08:34 PM

Understand, this is a Virginia (African-American) who has a CCW permit but likes to open carry. In the past he's picked up his girlfriend, who works at a bank, and the Norfolk police have given him lots of trouble, as in publicly frisking him, handcuffing him, putting him in a squadcar, etc. Not once, but a number of times. As a result of which he filed a civil rights lawsuit and just got a $10,000 settlement.

So he gets on a bus, open carrying, and guess what happens?.

Comments

Maybe when someone settles a case like this, one of the terms of the settlement should be that the department have every one of the officers in the department sign a statement that they understand that open carry isn't illegal and that it isn't disorderly conduct and that it isn't even justification to question someone. Require that the number of officers be counted and that the number of statements match and require that the statements be kept in storage, just in case this happens again. Also require 911 operators to be trained to tell callers that it's legal and there's nothing to be concerned about. If an officer from a state agency is involved this method could solve the problem for the whole state.

Then everyone should get behind and support my lawsuit for National Open Carry Handgun from a U.S. merchant seaman's point of view: Hamrick v. United States. After pushing my cases these last 6 years I have gone broke. I need $800 (by donation or short-term loan) to get my lawsuit printed, copied, bound, and filed and to renew my seaman's papers and passport so I can get back to work.

If you want to donate or loan me the $800 then please email me.

This guy should personally sue the Mayor & Chief LEO, along with the arresting officer, for violations of his civil rights under Section 1983. Let's see how long the harassment continues after that.

I'm willing to bet the next settlement will have more zeroes in it.

If these officers had profiled a minority for special attention/interrogation (something I am also against) the entire department would be taking 40 hours of sensitivity training.

Does anyone teach a gun sensitivity class?

Forfeiture of LEO commission for 18 USC 242 violations.

I guess if you dont mind the bullshit Dan, I prefer to carry concealed myself.

Common sense is just way too uncommon. Come on, Dan, legally and technically you're in the right. Just like when you don't pay your income tax because that amendment was never properly ratified. They would have done the same to me and I'm white! When you're in that voting booth and nobody is watching, I suggest you don't vote for Obama!

If he can show racial profiling he should get the ACLU on board. No, wait... What am I thinking?

Posted by: sgtlmj at September 22, 2008 01:33 PM

I don't think he can show profiling on this latest stop, since the bus driver is the one who called the police. But, maybe he has a case against the local Transportation authority?

VCDL attended the Norfolk City Council meeting last night.

Guess what happened after the meeting:

Holy Crap!

Norfolk PD Does it Again
