Argue with Rep. Carolyn McCarthy's staff, get guns seized

Story in the NY Post.

Never, ever, visit a pol's office with a gripe or complaint. Never write or send or say anything to a pol that can in any way be mis-construed into a threat. Instead, work for and donate money to that pol's opponent come election time. The elected and appointed power structure, and their centurians in the various law enforcement agencies, will always, always, close ranks around one of the political elite regardless of how big a sphincter the person is. They have no sense of humor or understanding about anything related to their own security. Period.

Oh yeah, and that $5 million lawsuit will be dismissed.

Thus we are no longer able to petition the government for redress of grievances?

That is not a road I want to see this country go down.

out of the way, plebian! we're doing god's work, here!

Letalis Maximus is incorrect. It is perfectly acceptable to ream out a politican just so long as you have the political clout to back it up at election time.

I have to agree with Letalis Maximus with the caveat that without knowing what the guy said or did, one cannot say that law enforcement acted without cause. Though I would say that if they wanted to send a message of intimidation; that would be the way to do it.

And BTW, that standing army that the founders were always so worried about IS the police.

Think "safehouse". Kinda hard to seize your guns if they don't know you have them, and if they did, they didn't know where.

"Cold dead hands" indicates a tactical error. Don't play defense.

Only thing the cops should find or know about is your bedroom gun.

If McCarthy would have known how much power her husband's stupid, useless death because he was unarmed would accrue to her, she would have killed him herself.

Let's see, she called 911 (emergency use only) and a man who had left her office after talking with her was raided the NEXT morning? This must have been on of those slow emergencies. And what great response time.

Could it be, in view of her continued efforts to render Americans helpless that this woman is actually a fan of murder? I think so

Posted by: straightarrow at July 23, 2008 01:33 PM

Does anyone know if a search warrant was executed of if the PD just acted upon the McCarthy staff's 9-1-1 call?

I have been unable to find any information. Was a Probable Cause affidavit filed and if so, by whom?

Is there an update to this story available? I can't find much other information on it.
