Did you see the story of the 12-year-old boy who save his mom from a guy who was attacking her and strangling her? The kid grabbed a kitchen knife and slashed the guy's neck. The guy bled to death. Now Maryland officials are trying to determine whether to press charges against the kid.

I was blown away when I heard that bit at the end of the (mother attacked) story that the police were trying to "figure out if they should press charges."

In the end I figured it must just be something they are saying to appease the kind of people that don't believe in taking a life to save a victim.
