DARPA testing new scope

Interesting scope design that would use lasers to assess wind conditions downrange. I rather doubt they'll allow it in competitive shooting!

I've been thinking that a similar targeting system could be used for RPGs and the like. Calculate distance to target with laser, then have the reticle show the user where to aim.

They're tackling a wicked difficult problem there -- and judging from the slides that show results of the field tests, they haven't yet dented it. Ready for production a year and a half from now? Give me a break.
