Rudy overdoing it a bit

Posted by David Hardy · 2 October 2007 11:21 AM

From the Wall Street Journal Online:

"The fact is that people inside the Giuliani campaign are appalled at the number of times their candidate has felt compelled to interrupt public appearances to take calls from his wife. The estimate from those in a position to know is that he has taken such calls more than 40 times in the middle of speeches, conferences and presentations to large donors."

It was such a success at the NRA meeting, produce the requisite guffaws and derision, now he has to say, hey look I do it all the time. Just to cover up when he tried to dupe the NRA with his phony sincerity.

Didn't work Rudy, "it's the principles stupid", and you don't have any.

It appears Rudy uses this tactic when he makes a goof, and can't thnk of the next thing to say. It is a shameful maneuver. It's distasteful for anyone to leave their phone on during a presentation.

I wonder of SPAM filter will let me say that he must be P-Whipped.......

Let's see...

Of course, if you are part of his campaign you are going to many events, so you see the same schtick over and over. Even a GOOD gag will get on your nerves. But most people in the audience are only going to see him the one time, and for them, it might be a good gag.

This one is hard to judge--but my guess is now that people are talking about it, he'll stop doing it.

The real trouble with this "schtick" is that people are comparing notes. It's getting into newspapers.

That's troublesome.

Posted by: karrde at October 2, 2007 08:07 PM

Schtick indeed is all it is. "Look, I'm an ordinary guy, with a wife and everything." Gives him an opportunity to say "I love you" to his wife in front of a microphone.

I think Rudy has beat this horse into the.... just a minute......, ring, ring, hello? yes, I'm writing on Of Arms and the Law, would you like to say something to them? OK. OK. Now stop calling me and call Rudy from now on. How do you spell lame? R U D Y.

This could be eerily reminiscent of Shrill-ery after her and her hubby cheated their way into office. "We are the president!" I got a bad feeling we have a two-fer-one presidency in our immediate future no matter which stinking rotten party cheats its way in.
