British knife crime skyrockets

Posted by David Hardy · 20 August 2007 10:28 PM

Times Online reports that knife robberies have more than doubled in two years, robberies overall increased by nearly 50% over the same period, and the government is responding by increasing the sentences for carrying a knife in public.

How about a cross-post to 'war on guns' that Aug. 28 is Buy Ammo Day?

It won't be long before clenching a fist will be considered an 'overt act' and/or 'arrestable offence' across the pond. Poor Churchill must be up in heaven asking himself why he bothered.

Standard response. Ignore the core crime and focus on the meaningless details. Lock up and fine people who carry knives; let people who rob with or without knives off with a stern warning. This poor country's leaders desperately needs someone to come along and lock them all up in nice safe rooms that can't be opened from the inside. Unfortunately, many of our "leaders" seem to be suffering from the same dementia.

The Daily Mail had the money quote on this story:

'Norman Brennan, of the Victims of Crime Trust, said: "We are facing a national crisis with knife crime. Increasing numbers of people do not think twice about slipping a knife into their pocket before they leave the house.

"There should be a mass nationwide stop and search and police should take community leaders with them so they can see the feral youngsters who are roaming our streets."'
