Take the test

Posted by David Hardy · 2 June 2007 09:31 PM

Who said it, Al Gore, or the Unabomber?

Update: one of the comments suggests you might take a similar test: Porn Star, or My Little Pony. The link couldn't posted since "porn" is blocked due to the thousands of spam comments using that term. (I even get spam for fork lift buying sites).

I scored 58%. An interesting question is whether or not it's worse to read a passage, thinking it's Al Gore, but it's really the Unibomber, or think it's the Unabomber, and it's really Al Gore. I say the latter is worse.

This is amusing, but I don't see what conclusion(s) can be drawn.

I doubt seriously that Al Gore has mailed any bombs to anyone.

One can easily perform this task on many works and find all sorts of correlations.

Hey, here is another test:

Google this as the site won't let me post the link.
"Porn Star or My Little Pony"

I think it is probably as valid as the Gore/Unabomber test.

Well, shucks, all I got was 42%!
Not surprising when you think about it, though: It really isn't easy to spot any important differences in their respective philosophical premises. In fact, I would hazard a guess that their greatest difference lies in two things: 1) Their respective positions in society, which exists in large measure owing to 2) Their different approaches to accomplishing the goal of destroying Western Civilization.
And to think that one of those guys was, for eight years, a heartbeat away from the Presidency! Chilling to think about that.
