Microsoft anti-hunting?

Posted by David Hardy · 6 June 2007 12:18 PM

Story here. One more reason to go Mac!

[Yup, the fact is that while your local Humane Societies operate pet shelters, Humane Society of the US is essentially a lobbying group, and to the best of my knowledge, operates none. And it gets all the money -- probably due in good part because people think it's the national association of humane societies.]

Comments

Speaking as someone who commonly uses a Mac, I suspect that many at Apple are not pro-hunting or pro-gun. However, I am pro-POSIX and thus systems similar to those appeal to me.

Already a Mac user. Linux powers the blog.

I don't think this indicates evil on Microsoft's part, just ignorance. Most people associate the Humane Society of the US with animal shelters, and who could possibly be against animal shelters? Hunters and other gun owners need to let Microsoft know that while HSUS does some good things, their political advocacy stuff is fringe-nutty and they should pull the plug on any funding.

actually, if you ask your local stray animal shelter, odds are good you'll find they're not associated with HSUS at all.

the "Humane Society of the United States", despite the name, is in fact NOT an umbrella organization for the various "humane society" animal shelter organizations. it's a quite separate lobbying group.

HSUS is an animal murdering AR group.

Argh! I hate Macs. I use linux. I use Windows when I absolutely have to. I know, I know, Mac OS is just BSD, but I hate the GUI.

My sister-in-law chaired our local humane society for years. The local outfits are not affiliated with HSUS.

The local groups are all about neutering, finding homes, and cruelty investigation; HSUS is an animal rights org. Being humane is not the same thing as conferring rights on animals.

I try to avoid using microsoft products on my Mac.
